Shawshak Redemption- main character analysis

The title of the movie means that it is a prison where salvation for sin through Jesus’ sacrifice. One of the examples that describe the title is- Andy was sent to the prison thinking that he had his wife and her lover, while he was innocent and when he found out he was innocent he finds his way for freedom and goes to the bank and takes the amount of money Warden Norton obtained illegally (financial corruption).

In the movie there a quite a lot main character but the main once are:-

Warden Norton- he was the director of the prison. He used to say to his prisoners that he only believed in two things and they were Bible and discipline. He also killed a young man called Tommy because Tommy knew Andy was innocent and he was ready to do anything in order to save Andy, while Warden didn’t want Andy to get out. The reason behind this was because Andy had laundered his dirty money and had managed to create a bank account where he kept all the money. When Andy came to know that Tommy was killed, he escapes from the prison and he also takes revenge on Warden by taking all Norton’s money. Warden Norton kills himself when police came to arrest him after Andy had escaped. Norton also used his prisoners in cheap prison labor, out of that he made a lot of money. At times he also over used his power.

Andy Dufresne- (Primary character) - He was accused of killing his wife and her lover. Andy was innocent unlike other friends of his. He was quite close to this guy named Red when he spent 19 years in the prison. Andy used the rock hammer to shape himself the pieces of chess set. While carving his name on the wall he realizes that the cell walls aren’t strong. During the 19 years he cuts a tunnel through the cell, to get out of the prison and start a new life in the world outside. Andy takes the entire Norton’s money to start a new life for him, with his new identity he settles in Mexico.

I thought this was a very interesting movie. I really like the movies.
